But disallowing access because you aren't paying is not allowed, so trying to guilt us about not paying is pretty bogus. Yes, it's wonderful to donate and support, I've done it a few times when I could afford it. Money for addons can't be a required thing, a rule straight from Blizzard. If you can't afford it, promote their Patreon for them. So far all I see are people who want to feel like they're helping pay addon makers without actually having to donate.

Definitely don't want to install Overwolf's app if it has a bunch of back-end junk to run in the background and display ads.

For now, I'm having to manually update those. All my addons are from Curse, so I'm not sure what's going on with that. I like WowUp, but I have four addons that don't appear in the list when it scans my folder. I'll be on Curse until it dies then I'll just manually do my addons until something else is well established and integrates flawlessly. Filled with.what are those even, advertisement 'mods'? It's constantly flagged as malware and constantly does fishy crap in the background. Yeah, sorry, Overwolf was trash when it came out years ago and it's still trash today. (Not that I think the people who make Wowup and the like are criminals, mind.) Comment by KnirpsLyn on T19:28:24-06:00 Whether or not you use another addon manager, switch to something like ElvUI that is self-contained, update addons manually (easy enough, especially if you set up a folder of bookmarks for each addon), or just go back to the default, Overwolf is not something that should ever be on anyone's computer.Īnyone criticizing those who use Wowup and similar addons suites: If you are not equally condemning Overwolf for bloatware, in-game advertisements, and similarly untrustworthy behavior, you are not promoting ethical behavior, you're just taking one criminal's side against another. It cannot be said enough: Overwolf is not trustworthy. I might be wrong and overwolf let them continue using it but it's unlikely. I've not used wowup so I don't have anything to say about it other than that it may lose access to the curseforge api and therefore many of its mods. Those suggestions and feedback become our roadmap, so please continue sharing! We’re reading through all the concerns, comments, and feedback shared online and on our ideas portal. We’re also dedicated to staying transparent around the challenges we face, and our long-term vision for CurseForge.

In our view, the way to get there is through open discussion with both mod authors and gamers alike, and to develop CurseForge in full transparency - as shared on our public roadmap board. We are building CurseForge as the home for all mod authors, and as a result a wonderful discovery platform for gamers. So thank you again for helping us shape the future of CurseForge! Over the alpha testing period we got hundreds of app feedback notes, made dozens of fixes and additions, and ended up with a smoother flow and experience. Thousands of gamers and creators inspected the app closely, shared feedback, and helped us make it more streamlined. Today’s launch is a great opportunity to extend our MASSIVE gratitude to everyone who tested the CurseForge app during the alpha. Basically, it’s the same CurseForge you know and love, now in a dedicated app just for discovering and managing addons. We drew inspiration from the original Curse client, and designed the new app to feel both familiar and intuitive. Since then, we’ve been hard at work creating the new CurseForge app from the ground up using the Overwolf framework.
